JUNE 22 // ADV SMARTPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY

80.00

5-8PM

In this workshop, we will move beyond what was covered in the "Smartphone Photography" workshop and dive into making more complicated photographs with our phones. We will make use of clip-on camera lens attachments to expand the optics of our phones. We will also use phone tripods and shoot multiple panoramas. Please bring these items with you, or plan to purchase one at Atelier.  We will use the ProShot, Snapseed, and Lightroom Apps (which must be purchased and installed for this workshop; Lightroom requires a free Adobe Account) to make panoramas, HDR images, creative portraits, and do editing on our phones. We will go outside (weather permitting) to shoot images as well as what we can capture in the shop. Then, we will reconvene and work on editing our photos together in the excellent (and free) Snapseed and Lightroom apps. We will do black and white conversions, and other advanced editing techniques such as selective editing.

ABOUT GRANT KAYE

Hawai`i-born photographer Grant Kaye left a career in volcano geology in New Zealand and relocated to Truckee, California in 2008, where he eventually became a full-time photographer and educator. Grant specializes in landscape and night-sky photography, motion-controlled timelapse, and creative dSLR filmmaking. He loves to teach other people how to achieve their creative photographic vision. Grant joined the Mountain Workshops in Kentucky as their timelapse coach in 2013 and 2014, and he also taught photography at Nevada's Shooting the West Workshops in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Grant is happiest making photographs where the division between technology and art is blurred - pushing the limits of what his gear is capable of to create unique images that evoke the emotional connection everyone has with nature and art, especially when they don't realize it.
