In this introductory workshop, students will design and make their own stamp blocks using Speedball brand Speedycut. We will cover image transfer, layout, stamp building, and printing fundamentals. Students will be encouraged to to use found imagery or their own imagination for inspiration. We will have pre-made stamps for student use as well! This class is a fun way to start printmaking on your own. Everyone will leave with their stamp two hand-printed tea towels.

PROVIDED SUPPLIES:
(all supplies are provided for class)

CONSIDER BRINGING, BUT NOT NECESSARY:

water bottle
snacks
any imagery you would like to draw from
extra fabric such as napkins or towels you would like to experiment with

ABOUT KELLY WALLIS

Kelly is an optimist. This is apparent in her fresh approach to design and her enthusiasm to constantly learn and develop new skills. She is a believer that creativity manifests itself not only through graphic design but in everyday life and the more experiences you have with the world the better your design. Kelly has been cultivating her relationship with the world through travel, art and exploring the High Sierra Mountain range. She believes you should be adventurous in life as well as in your portfolio. Kelly respects the craftsmanship and artistry her industry is capable of and this reflects in her work and her attention to detail.

Kelly received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism with an emphasis in advertising from the University of Nevada, Reno. She then went on to portfolio school in Chicago where she focused on typography, layout and design thinking and interned with Lester and Lucy Press where she cultivated her love for print and letterpress. Her life took root in Reno, NV where she worked as the senior designer under Stan Byers at Stan Can Design™ creating award-winning design work. She is currently the workshop manager at Atelier Truckee and a MFA candidate at Sierra Nevada College.
