AUG 13+14+15 // PORTRAITS IN OIL

170.00

9A-12P

This three-day workshop is August 13, 14 and 15 from 9a-12pm.

The study of human expression is a long held tradition of art. The slow drying time of oil paints makes it an incredible medium to work with in the genre of portraiture. Local portrait artist Anke Hass covers the foundational skills needed to work with oil paints, binders, odorless solvents, value, texture and how to apply these magical paints to the surface. Students will also gain a basic understanding of facial structures and proportions to create a convincing life-like portrait in oil. Each student will work on a portrait of their choosing. This class is for students of all levels. Please read the supply list.

ABOUT ANKE HASS

Born, raised and educated in Germany, where her affinity for the genre of portraiture was formed through the works of Rembrandt, Albrecht Dürer and Franz Hals. Nevertheless her own work is Tahoe made in that it grew out of a transitory and recreational culture and her personal passion for renewal and wholeness. She likes to depict immediacy and liveliness in her drawings and paintings, primarily by contrasting her detailed and reflective work to the ephemeral or temporal quality of human relations. In addition she pursues to express her love for people. Parallel to her work as an artist she is also teaching art through private classes and workshops and through Arts for the Schools, Sierra Community College, Atelier Truckee and Martis Camp Resort.
